Houston, TX — April 11, 2024 — “Dream Corals,” a mesmerizing short film by Luca Keller, has won first in the “Protect and Respect the Ocean” category at the Houston Underwater Film Festival. The film has captured the hearts and minds of audiences and judges alike, earning the prestigious first-place accolade voted for by the audience and also earning a coveted spot in the Judge’s Top 10 Picks.
“Dream Corals” was also included at last year’s International Underwater Film Festival in Belgrade.
Director Luca Keller shares:
“This film originated from my profound admiration for the marine ecosystem of a remote island in Timor Leste, home to a pristine and seemingly untouched tropical reef system acclaimed as the most biodiverse in the world. Every square meter of this reef is adorned with dozens of coral species, an unparalleled sight. Through this project, I aimed to share these vanishing ecosystems with a wider audience, instilling hope that while not all reefs are lost, urgent action is needed to preserve what remains.
Dream Corals” immerses viewers in the beauty and fragility of ocean life, serving as a poignant reminder of our responsibility to preserve it.
