First Underwater Videography Workshop in Saudi Arabia Hosted by Luca Keller

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – In October 2024, award-winning German-Italian filmmaker Luca Keller, alongside his associates, hosted a 5-day Underwater Videography Workshop for the local dive community in Jeddah.

The workshop, held at Descent Dive Jeddah, featured comprehensive daily theory sessions covering everything from the physical challenges of underwater filming to camera settings, visual storytelling, marine life behavior, and post-production techniques. Practical in-water training took place along the stunning coast of Jeddah, showcasing Saudi Arabia’s emerging dive spots in the Red Sea.

Supported by the Saudi Watersports and Diving Federation, the event also received sponsorship from international brands like Weefine and Fourth Element. This collaboration highlighted the growing interest in underwater videography and ocean conservation in Saudi Arabia.

The workshop was met with enthusiasm from the 14 participants, who praised the valuable insights and hands-on experience. The event sparked excitement within the local community, motivating future initiatives.

Throughout the program, Luca Keller emphasized the importance of conservation in filmmaking, inspiring participants to use their skills to raise awareness, encapsulated in the workshop’s motto: “Documenting Life Below – Defending It Above.”
