Luca has been invited to sit on the international jury for CIMASUB 2026, and this is not just any edition. This year marks the festival’s 50th anniversary.
CIMASUB, the Donostia-San Sebastián International Underwater Film Festival, is one of the longest-running underwater cinema events in the world. Based in the Basque Country, Spain, the festival has been championing underwater storytelling since 1976. Fifty years. That is a lot of ocean on screen.
Being part of the jury for this edition is something we are genuinely proud of. Underwater filmmaking is at the heart of what Luca built Underwater Lunatics to do, and having his perspective represented at a festival of this caliber feels right.
CIMASUB described his role on the jury as bringing a contemporary perspective to underwater imaging, with a connection to the new generation of ocean storytellers. That is exactly what Underwater Lunatics is. We did not set out to fit into the existing mold of underwater film. We set out to push what the medium could look like and what it could say.
The festival runs entries across a range of categories. Submissions for CIMASUB 2026 are now open. If you have been sitting on a finished film, or close to one, this is worth your time.
We will share updates as the festival date approaches.
